The European Union’s Support for the UAE on the Three Islands Dispute
Iran’s former Foreign Minister, Kamal Kharrazi, has criticized the European Union for siding with the UAE in the dispute over the three islands, accusing the union of showing hostility towards Iran. He highlighted that Iran has consistently opposed the occupation of Ukrainian lands and called for dialogue and a peaceful resolution.
Government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani reiterated Iran’s stance that Abu Mousa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb are integral parts of Iran, dismissing the EU and Gulf Cooperation Council’s interference in Iranian territorial integrity. She emphasized that historical, legal, and geographical evidence supports Iran’s sovereignty over the islands.
Iran has firmly rejected baseless claims by the UAE and criticized political statements made in collaboration with other parties. The country maintains its legal status and sovereignty over the disputed islands, warning against any attempts to undermine its authority.
