Russian navy ships moved 1,500 North Korean soldiers to Vladivostok, South Korea’s National Intelligence Service confirmed.
In a surprising turn of events, North Korea has sent troops to support Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, as revealed by South Korea’s spy agency. The National Intelligence Service (NIS) confirmed that over 1,500 North Korean special operations forces were transferred by Russian navy ships to Vladivostok from October 8 to October 13. It is anticipated that more North Korean soldiers will be deployed in Russia shortly, potentially complicating the conflict and escalating tensions globally.
The NIS also disclosed that the North Korean soldiers in Russia have been equipped with Russian military gear, weapons, and forged documents. They are currently stationed in various Russian military bases and will be dispatched to combat zones following their training.
South Korea’s President warned of a “serious security threat”, acknowledging the dangerous military ties between Russia and North Korea. Meanwhile, NATO and other intelligence sources are yet to confirm the reports, though concerns about the situation growing into a larger conflict persist.
