Panchamasali Lingayats Urge CM Siddaramaiah for Reservations Before Karnataka Bypolls

In a crucial meeting between Karnataka’s Congress government and a community delegation advocating for Category 2A reservation for Panchamasali Lingayats, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that the administration is open to considering the issue to ensure social justice for all marginalized groups. The Panchamasali community, currently classified under Category 3B, seeks higher education opportunities and benefits by being included in Category 2A. With the election code of conduct in effect, the government promised discussions with legal experts before any action is taken. The community, led by Jayamrutynjaya Swamiji, has long demanded better representation in government jobs and educational institutions, warning of potential agitations if promises are not fulfilled. The upcoming assembly by-elections add political significance to the issue, as Panchamasali Lingayats form a crucial vote bank in Karnataka. Previous demands for 2A reservation have also been made to BJP leaders, showcasing the long-standing nature of this issue. The government faces pressure to address the community’s demands and ensure fair and just decisions in line with the law and constitution.
