A worrying development has emerged as North Korea is reportedly sending troops to support Russia in its war against Ukraine. Seoul’s intelligence agency revealed that 1,500 special forces are currently undergoing training in Russia’s Far East, with more troops expected to be deployed soon.
The National Intelligence Service released detailed satellite images showing the first deployment of North Korean troops to Russia. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol called an emergency security meeting, denouncing North Korea’s actions as a significant security threat.
The special forces soldiers, disguised as Russian troops with unique uniforms and weapons, are expected to join the fight in Ukraine after completing training. South Korean officials estimate that around 12,000 North Korean soldiers could be sent to support Russia.
This alarming development follows a mutual defense treaty signed between Russia and North Korea in June. The North has already provided a significant amount of lethal weapons to Russia since last August, raising concerns about the escalating conflict.
