NATO chief eager for Ukraine to join as member soon

NATO Head: Alliance will support Ukraine until it becomes a member

During a press conference in London, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte expressed the alliance’s commitment to ensuring Ukraine’s success until it becomes a member. While welcoming Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to NATO headquarters, Rutte emphasized the importance of Ukraine joining the alliance in the future.

Rutte also acknowledged the support of various countries, including Australia, Japan, Korea, and New Zealand, in providing assistance to Ukraine. He highlighted Australia’s announcement of delivering tanks as a demonstration of solidarity in the face of shared challenges.

Zelenskyy, in turn, praised the resilience of the Ukrainian people in defending their values against Russian aggression. He emphasized the significance of unity among partners in rebuilding Ukrainian infrastructure and facing the upcoming winter challenges.

Although there were conflicting reports regarding the involvement of North Korean soldiers in the conflict, Rutte clarified that NATO has no evidence of their participation but acknowledged North Korea’s support for Russia through various means.
