Maulana Fazlur Rehman Urges PML-N to Notify Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as Next CJP
According to sources, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has advised PML-N to appoint Justice Mansoor Ali Shah as the next Chief Justice of Pakistan without delay to avoid further complications. He stressed the importance of both government and opposition drafting separate proposals for the next CJP.
Recent meetings between Rehman and PTI leaders have sparked discussions on halting talks due to alleged pressure on party members. Rehman cautioned against employing tactics that could disrupt negotiations, highlighting the need for open-hearted engagement.
The government has reached an agreement to establish a permanent constitutional bench consisting of seven judges who cannot be removed. This move aims to enhance the judiciary’s stability in handling constitutional matters and other cases.
Furthermore, proposals include granting the Judiciary Commission authority to appoint these permanent judges and abolishing the Supreme Court’s involvement in selecting members of the Chief Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
