Transforming the Future Through Infrastructure: A Look at CPEC
During the recent 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the SCO in Islamabad, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Prior to the meeting, Premier Li attended the completion ceremony of the New Gwadar International Airport project with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, highlighting the strong partnership between China and Pakistan.
The New Gwadar International Airport, a crucial part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), signifies the deep collaboration between the two nations. Premier Li stated that the airport’s development will enhance local socio-economic progress and integrate Gwadar into global supply chains.
Beyond the airport, Gwadar Port, supported by significant Chinese investments, has become a vital hub for regional trade and logistics, driving economic growth in Pakistan. Looking ahead, China and Pakistan aim to further maximize the benefits of CPEC projects and expand industrial cooperation for regional connectivity and stability.
This vision includes collaboration with third-party countries to broaden CPEC’s impact as a platform for regional integration. The next phase of industrial cooperation is expected to bring development opportunities for value chain cooperation among regional countries, fostering a prosperous future for the region.
