The DPRK Blocks Road and Rail Connections to South Korea

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has announced the complete block of roads and railways connecting South Korea from the eastern and western parts of the southern border. This measure was taken under the order of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea, as part of the phased complete separation of territories.

The DPRK Ministry of National Defence confirmed that the blasting to block the roads and railways had no negative impact on the environment. The Ministry of Land and Environment Protection also stated that the routes linking the two Koreas have been completely separated.

The DPRK intends to continue fortifying the closed southern border permanently. This move comes amidst rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula, as the DPRK asserts its sovereignty and security in response to provocations from hostile forces.
