Western response to death of Hamas leader reported by RT World News

High-ranking officials in the US, UK, France, Germany, and Italy are celebrating the news of Israel’s successful operation that resulted in the death of Yahya Sinwar, the political leader of Hamas, during a firefight in Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed Sinwar’s death through DNA testing.

US President Joe Biden applauded the elimination of Sinwar, stating that “no terrorists can escape justice.” He compared this event to the killing of Osama Bin Laden in 2011 and expressed eagerness to work with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to end the Gaza war post-Sinwar.

Vice President Kamala Harris echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the opportunity to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza without Hamas in power, calling it a significant step towards global security.

European leaders also lauded Sinwar’s demise, with President Macron of France demanding the release of hostages, German FM Baerbock condemning Sinwar as a terrorist, and Italian FM Taiani hoping for a ceasefire. UK Defense Secretary Healey expressed relief at Sinwar’s death following the October 7 attacks, which led to a prolonged conflict with devastating civilian casualties in Gaza.
