Senior Chinese leader Wang Huning addressed the sixth World Buddhist Forum in Ningbo City, emphasizing the role of the Buddhist community in promoting world peace and human progress. As a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang urged Buddhists to contribute their wisdom and strength towards fostering dialogue among civilizations and advocating for harmony between different religions.
China upholds the policy of religious freedom and supports the Buddhist community in engaging in international exchanges with independence, equality, friendship, and mutual respect. Wang also highlighted the Chinese government’s encouragement of the Chinese Buddhist community to participate in global religious and cultural dialogues, fostering friendly exchanges with Buddhist communities worldwide to enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges.
Prior to the forum’s opening ceremony, Wang met with representatives from 72 countries and regions, comprising about 800 participants. The event aimed to facilitate dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding within the global Buddhist community.
