China denies supplying weapons to Russia amid US sanctions on Chinese drone makers

The United States Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Chinese drone engine manufacturers for aiding Russia in the war in Ukraine. The sanctions target entities involved in developing long-range attack drones used by Russia in Ukraine.

Russia’s use of these drones has caused widespread destruction and casualties in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has requested US support to strike deep into Russian territory using long-range weapons.

US Sanctions on Chinese Entities

The US has accused China of providing direct support to Russia in its war effort. These sanctions mark the first time US has targeted Chinese firms involved in producing complete weapons systems with Russian partners.

The Treasury Department aims to disrupt the networks supporting Russia’s weapons program. Despite growing ties between China and Russia, China maintains it does not supply weapons to Moscow.

This move is part of a series of sanctions targeting entities aiding Russia’s war in Ukraine. China has also sanctioned US defense firms over military sales to Taiwan.

US-China relations continue to be strained over these issues, with both countries taking countermeasures against each other.
