US pounds Yemen Houthis with stealth bombers – Naharnet

In a bold move, American B-2 stealth bombers conducted airstrikes on Yemen’s Houthi rebels, targeting underground bunkers. This marked the first reported use of B-2 Spirit bombers in strikes against the Houthis, who have been disruptive in the Red Sea corridor due to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

The airstrikes reportedly hit locations near Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and in the Houthi stronghold of Saada. While the extent of damage and casualties is unclear, United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed that the strikes targeted five weapons storage sites in Houthi-controlled areas.

This action also served as a warning to Iran, the primary supporter of the Houthis, especially after recent missile attacks on Israel. The rare use of the B-2 bombers, known for their high cost and advanced capabilities, signifies the seriousness of the situation in Yemen.
