US groups demand immediate halt to Israel arms sales

Pressure Mounts on US Government to Cease Military Aid to Israel

Protests in the US are urging the government to stop military aid to Israel, amidst criticism of a letter from the Biden administration to Israel. The letter calls for increased aid to Gaza within 30 days, which has been slammed by organizations citing the urgent need for assistance in north Gaza.

Sarah Leah Whitson from Democracy in the Arab World Now (DAWN) described the letter as a signal that Israel has gone too far, urging the Biden administration to take action. Raed Jarrar, DAWN’s advocacy director, called for concrete steps to be taken rather than vague deadlines.

Leaked by Axios, the letter demands Israel to ramp up humanitarian aid to Gaza, allowing more aid entry and ending the isolation of northern Gaza. Signed by top US officials, the letter warns of consequences if Israel fails to comply.

Various organizations and leaders have criticized the 30-day deadline, emphasizing the urgent need for action to prevent further suffering in Gaza. With thousands dead and injured due to Israel’s offensive, the call to halt military aid is gaining momentum.
