Ramaphosa defends Lesufi, clashes with DA MP in parliament

President Cyril Ramaphosa responded to a DA MP’s criticism of his handling of Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi during a parliamentary session with sarcastic remarks. The DA questioned Ramaphosa on the implementation of the Government of National Unity (GNU) at provincial and local levels, expressing concern over Lesufi’s defiance of Luthuli House directives. The DA MP called out Ramaphosa for his failure to rein in Lesufi’s actions.

Ramaphosa emphasized the importance of political parties working together based on willingness, determination, and chemistry among participants. He acknowledged the high costs associated with the GNU cabinet but defended the decision to maintain it for stability. Ramaphosa assured that efforts would be made to monitor and manage the expenses to ensure that taxpayer funds are used efficiently.

Despite facing criticism, Ramaphosa remained steadfast in his commitment to establish a government of national unity and promote stability in the country.
