Police warn: Transactions over N500,000 can land POS operators in trouble.

By Efe Onodjae

The Delta State Police Command has issued a warning to Point of Sale (POS) operators to avoid conducting transactions exceeding N500,000 to prevent getting into trouble. The spokesman, SP Edafe Bright, emphasized in a video that transactions above the mentioned amount should be done at the bank instead of through POS operators to avoid potential criminal activities.

SP Edafe cited a case where a POS operator received N4 million in ransom money from a kidnapping victim and only made a profit of N40,000, showcasing the risks involved in handling high-value transactions. Both the warning and testimonies from the individuals involved served as a cautionary tale to other POS operators.

As the police continue to crack down on criminal activities involving POS operators, it is essential for them to adhere to the regulations and report any suspicious transactions to avoid being implicated. The message is clear – transactions above N500,000 can lead to serious consequences, and operators must act responsibly to prevent becoming unwitting accomplices in illegal activities.
