Pakistan, Russia to enhance dialogue, cooperation in diverse areas – Business

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Russian PM Agree to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

During the 23rd SCO summit in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Mishustin, met to discuss and strengthen the relationship between Pakistan and Russia. They agreed to focus on areas such as trade, industry, energy, connectivity, science, technology, and education.

PM Sharif expressed his desire to transform the warm memories of his first foreign visit to Moscow into a lasting friendship with Russia. Both leaders acknowledged the positive momentum in Pakistan-Russia relations over the past two decades and committed to enhancing cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

They also discussed the need for direct flights between Russia and Pakistan to improve connectivity and agreed on increasing exchanges in languages and cooperation in the banking sectors to facilitate trade and investment. The Russian PM commended Pakistan for hosting the SCO summit and expressed a desire to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

This meeting marks a significant step towards deepening the ties between Pakistan and Russia, with both leaders emphasizing the importance of maintaining close cooperation on all areas of mutual interest.
