The Edo State Governor-Elect, Monday Okpebholo, has raised concerns about the alleged looting of government funds and properties during the transition period. He called on banks to stop granting loans to the state government and urged the EFCC and DSS to investigate the matter.
A 24-member transition committee has been set up by the All Progressives Congress to facilitate the handover on November 12. The outgoing administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki has been accused of obtaining loans and looting government properties.
Okpebholo emphasized the need for integrity in handling government finances and warned against any unethical behavior. The government, in response, advised Okpebholo’s associates to wait until November 12 to assume governance and dismissed the allegations as baseless and aimed at creating confusion.
