Jordan Displays Water Innovations at Cairo Water W…

Jordan recently participated in Cairo Water Week, focusing on the theme “Water and Climate: Building Resilient Communities.” The event brought together participants from over 30 countries, international organizations, and civil society groups to discuss water management and climate resilience.

Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority, Hisham Haisa, led a session showcasing Jordan’s use of modern technology to support water operators and farmers. The session highlighted the achievements of the WaPOR project, a collaboration between IWMI, FAO, and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Haisa emphasized how innovative tools, combining remote sensing and ground data, are improving water and agricultural management in the region. One presentation focused on the Irrigation Performance Assessment Tool for the Northern Jordan Valley, showing advancements in assessing irrigation efficiency and agricultural productivity.
