Israeli Forces Target Rescuers in Gaza Siege
In the midst of Israel’s ongoing siege on northern Gaza, medics report that Israeli forces have been targeting rescuers attempting to retrieve the dead and wounded. The siege, now in its 13th day, has left dozens of Palestinians trapped under the rubble of bombed-out buildings in Jabalia.
Gaza’s Civil Defence stated that many people have been killed in Israeli strikes, with rescuers facing difficulty in reaching the victims as the Israeli military targets any moving objects. Despite a blockade on essential supplies, Israel continues to escalate tensions by sending tanks into residential areas and launching airstrikes.
Residents in Jabalia refuse to leave their homes, despite the escalating violence. The US has warned Israel to improve the humanitarian situation in northern Gaza within 30 days or face potential aid restrictions. Although Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed expanding aid to Gaza, local officials remain skeptical of Israeli claims.
Amidst the conflict, Gaza’s health ministry reported a rising death toll with thousands killed and wounded over the past year. The situation in Gaza remains dire as the international community calls for an end to the violence.
