Hongkongers lauded for thwarting HK million knife robbery

Hong Kong police praised two brave men for thwarting a thief who tried to rob a money changer owner of HK$1 million at knifepoint. The incident occurred at a street junction on Sunday night when the robber attempted to steal the victim’s handbag containing the money. Thanks to the intervention of the two residents, the thief was unsuccessful in his robbery attempt.

The thwarted thief managed to escape by hopping onto a getaway vehicle, which was later discovered abandoned in Tai Po. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of a 49-year-old suspect from a car repair shop, who was charged with attempted robbery within 24 hours of the incident.

This courageous act by the two men not only prevented a potentially dangerous situation but also led to the swift capture of the culprit. It serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and cooperation in maintaining public safety.
