Ensuring Peace Through Integration of Armed Opposition Forces:
Central Equatoria State Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani recently visited Morobo County, advocating for the swift integration of armed opposition forces into the national army under a unified command to promote peace in South Sudan. During a meeting with Gen. Jadalla’s delegation, Gen. John Mabieh, the commander of SPLA-IO forces in Morobo County, emphasized the importance of expediting the implementation of the 2018 peace agreement to address ongoing challenges.
General Wesley Welebe, a key commander of SPLA-IO, echoed the call for unification of forces and emphasized the need for all soldiers to work together towards a common goal. Governor Jadalla assured the opposition forces that their concerns will be communicated to higher authorities while urging them to refrain from actions that harm civilians.
As Governor Jadalla concluded his visit, the focus remains on fostering collaboration between the SPLA-IO forces, local government, and the community to ensure peaceful coexistence and development in Morobo County.
