Former Haryana Minister Captain Ajay Yadav resigns from Congress, cites mistreatment

Last Updated:

Senior Congress leader Capt Ajay Singh Yadav has resigned from the party, citing mistreatment after Sonia Gandhi’s departure as party president. He also stepped down as Chairman of AICC’s OBC department, expressing disillusionment with the party’s leadership. In a tweet, Yadav mentioned his family’s long association with the Congress but stated that the decision to resign was difficult due to the mistreatment he faced post-Sonia Gandhi’s exit.

Yadav becomes the third prominent Congress leader to leave recently, following Kuldeep Bishnoi and Kiran Choudhry, who joined BJP. He criticized the party’s leadership for the state unit’s infighting before the Haryana assembly polls. Yadav emphasized on the need for introspection after the party’s poor performance in certain regions, indicating a lack of representation and dissatisfaction with candidate selections.

The BJP’s victory in Haryana has further fueled internal strife within the Congress, with allegations of mistreatment towards OBC leaders like Yadav. As political dynamics shift, Yadav’s departure marks a significant blow to the Congress party in the state.
