Finance minister approves Public Procurement Regulations in record time

South Sudan Makes Progress in Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Regulations

South Sudan`s Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, recently signed the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Regulations into law, marking a significant milestone in the country’s Public Finance Management reforms.

Minister Ater emphasized the importance of transparency and efficient resource utilization, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring the proper implementation of the regulations. The Chairperson of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority, Ayii Bol Akol, also stressed the significance of the regulations in promoting value for money and enhancing public procurement processes.

The World Bank’s Acting Country Manager for South Sudan, Juvenal Nzambimana, praised the move as a crucial step towards improving public finance management, governance, transparency, and accountability in the country. With the operationalization of the regulations, South Sudan is poised to enhance the efficiency and integrity of its procurement processes.
