FG aims for trn economy by 2030 through financial inclusion

The Federal Government is focused on building a $1 trillion economy by 2030 through financial inclusion, according to Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia. Speaking at the 8th Annual National Conference of the Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria (AMMBAN), Hadejia highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between the rich and the poor through sustainable mechanisms.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving economic and financial inclusion with the collaboration of all sector players. Key initiatives, such as Neighbourhood Financial Inclusion Centers (NFIC), aim to provide financial services in excluded communities and improve access for millions of Nigerians.

Governor Godwin Obaseki praised AMMBAN for driving financial inclusion and economic growth in Nigeria, while Philip Ikeazor from the CBN highlighted the significance of financial inclusion in empowerment and poverty reduction.

The conference also addressed challenges such as fraud in agent locations, with AMMBAN introducing measures like automated identity cards and a joint Task Force with security agencies to combat fraud. Overall, the focus remains on creating a future where every Nigerian has access to essential financial services for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
