Exclusive: US-Uzbekistan Minerals Memorandum Boosts Clean Energy

US and Uzbekistan: Strengthening Partnerships for Economic Growth

In an exclusive interview with Trend, Laura Brown, Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Uzbekistan, highlighted the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) on critical minerals between the two nations. The MoU aims to diversify global mineral supply chains and promote clean energy transition.

Brown emphasized the mutual interest of both countries in advancing scientific and technological capabilities in the critical minerals sector to boost Uzbekistan’s mining industry. Additionally, the agreement seeks to attract US investments to enhance economic collaboration between the nations.

Furthermore, Brown mentioned the customs mutual assistance agreement (CMAA) signed on September 13, 2024, which focuses on improving law enforcement and customs cooperation to combat various illicit activities.

She highlighted the ongoing economic development initiatives between the US and Uzbekistan, including partnerships to increase bilateral trade and investment, as well as cooperation in the agricultural and mining sectors.

The US values its growing trade relationship with Uzbekistan and looks forward to further strengthening ties through collaboration with key partners in the country.
