DPRK Army Blows Up Roads and Railways Connecting to South Korea
In a bold move, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has physically cut off roads and railways connecting to South Korea in an effort to completely separate its territory from its southern neighbor. The DPRK’s army blew up sections of roads and railways near the southern border on October 15, further escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
The official Korean Central News Agency reported that this action was taken under the order of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea. The DPRK justified this measure by citing South Korea as a hostile state and the grave political and military provocations of hostile forces.
Despite concerns about the environmental impact, the DPRK Ministry of Land and Environment Protection confirmed that the blasting had no negative effects on the ecological surroundings. The DPRK plans to fortify the closed southern border permanently, as declared by the Ministry of National Defense.
This drastic measure follows previous announcements by the KPA General Staff to completely sever ties with South Korea in response to the precarious situation on the Korean Peninsula.
