The Delhi government is considering introducing electronic cards to replace smart cards, driving licenses, and vehicle registration certificates. These new cards will be printable and feature a unique ID and QR code for verification by traffic police.

A scheme proposed by the Rajasthan government is being reviewed, aiming to convert smart card systems to electronic licenses and registration certificates. Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot took action to address delays in RC delivery. The electronic cards will offer convenience as people can print them themselves like Aadhaar cards.

Electronic documents can be printed or accessed through apps like DigiLocker. By May 2024, the transport department had issued 1.6 lakh licenses and 6.69 lakh registration certificates. Only electronic versions will be issued under the new plan. PDF formats will be available for download on the Parivahan Sewa portal with QR codes for authenticity.

Minister Gehlot aims for better convenience for Delhi residents with digital RC implementation.
