Constitutional package by PML-N’s Siddiqui to be unveiled in Senate tomorrow

PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui announced that major parties have reached a consensus on “90 per cent” of the points in the constitutional package. The package includes amendments such as the extension of the top judge’s term. Three drafts were being prepared by different parties, with PPP, JUI-F, and government involvement.

A meeting held in Lahore resulted in the ruling parties winning over Maulana Fazlur Rehman of JUI-F for the reform package. However, cooperation from PTI is still needed to achieve complete consensus. The parties expressed hope for agreement on various issues and amendments, aiming to finalize them soon. The amendments are scheduled to be presented in the Senate tomorrow.

PTI alleges offers being made to sway lawmakers

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Omar Ayub accused the government of bribery and kidnapping PTI lawmakers to pass the 26th amendment. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar emphasized consultation with Imran Khan for final draft approval. Gohar denounced the harassment of PTI members by the government and claimed seven potential government voters were not on their side.
