Columbia University temporarily banned Zionist professor Shai Davidai from campus for “repeatedly harassing and intimidating” staff members, a university spokesperson announced.

The ban on Davidai came after he engaged in disruptive behavior during a commemoration event at Columbia, prompting the university to take action to ensure a safe environment for all employees.

While Columbia respects freedom of speech, the spokesperson emphasized that harassment and intimidation will not be tolerated on campus.

Controversial Figure

Davidai, a vocal pro-Israeli professor, has been at the center of various controversies related to his actions and statements regarding pro-Palestinian activism on campus.

He has faced criticism for his confrontational approach towards students and faculty members, with some accusing him of crossing the line with his behavior.

Despite the temporary ban, Davidai has not been restricted from expressing his opinions, but Columbia has made it clear that harassing behavior will not be condoned.

Protests and Activism

Students at Columbia have been actively engaged in pro-Palestine demonstrations, calling attention to the university’s alleged complicity in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The student group, Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine, has been advocating for divestment from companies involved in weapons manufacturing and defense contracting, which they claim contribute to the violence in Gaza.

The protests have intensified as students demand accountability and action from the university to address their concerns regarding Palestinian rights and the alleged support for oppressive practices.
