Chinese defense ministry criticizes US arms sales to Taiwan

A Chinese military spokesperson recently criticized Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for collaborating with the United States to purchase weapons, stating that it is a misuse of the region’s finances.

Ministry of National Defense spokesperson, Wu Qian, condemned the alleged involvement of fraud in U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, emphasizing the high cost and outdated nature of the weapons acquired over the years.

He further accused the DPP authorities of benefiting corrupted officials and arms dealers through purchasing ineffective military equipment, cautioning against pursuing Taiwan independence with unreliable external support.

Ultimately, Wu warned that those advocating for independence with U.S. backing are ultimately paving the way for their own downfall.
