Beijing has been accused of materially supporting Moscow and aiding it in evading sanctions, according to US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith. Despite portraying itself as a neutral party, China has allegedly been assisting Russia in the Ukraine conflict. This accusation comes as the Pentagon announces a new military aid package for Kiev worth $425 million, which includes anti-air missiles, artillery shells, and armored vehicles.
Smith claims that China has chosen to support Russia in the war in Ukraine, providing dual-use components to help bypass sanctions. However, China denies these allegations, stating its commitment to promoting peace talks and peaceful settlements. The US, on the other hand, has imposed sanctions on Chinese entities for allegedly aiding Russia.
China has proposed peace roadmaps for Ukraine and engaged in diplomacy to end the conflict, while solidifying its strategic partnership with Russia against American unilateralism. The meeting between Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov and Chinese officials in Beijing further highlighted their shared assessment of global situations.
