7 dead, 6 wounded in Somalia cafe suicide blast

Tragedy struck in Mogadishu as a suicide attack at a restaurant claimed the lives of at least seven people and injured six. Al-Shabab, the al-Qaida-linked terrorist group, took responsibility for the attack targeting a location frequented by police officers. The victims included officers and civilians enjoying tea outside a police training station. The chaotic scene left many injured individuals seeking treatment at Madina Hospital, with some sustaining severe injuries.

This attack follows a similar incident two months prior, where 37 lives were lost in an attack on a public beach. Al-Shabab’s mission to overthrow Somalia’s government through military outposts and state targets continues to threaten the region’s security. As Somalia transitions to taking over security responsibilities, the need for international support remains crucial.
