The US House Speaker, Mike Johnson, recently accused CBS of selectively editing his interview on ‘Face the Nation’ to change the context of his statements. Johnson took to social media to post the original footage, proving that CBS had omitted critical parts of his interview. In one instance, CBS removed key information about the lack of resources provided to Hurricane Helene victims in North Carolina by the Biden-Harris Administration.
Furthermore, Johnson highlighted another example where CBS edited out references to the federal government’s attempts to prevent a state from removing non-citizens from voter rolls. Displeased with CBS’s editing practices, Johnson vowed not to give any non-live interviews to the network in the future.
This incident adds to CBS’s recent controversies, including a misleading ’60 Minutes’ interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. Former President Donald Trump also criticized CBS for their editing practices, calling it “the greatest fraud in broadcast history.” Despite the backlash, CBS has refused to release the raw footage to address the controversy.
