UNIFIL reports Israeli tank fired at peacekeepers’ watchtower in Lebanon | Israel attacks Lebanon News

Peacekeepers in southern Lebanon have been attacked by Israeli forces, causing damage to a watchtower. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported that an Israeli tank fired at their position near Kfar Kila, destroying two cameras and the tower.

These attacks are part of a series of Israeli violations against peacekeepers in Lebanon as Israel intensifies its bombardment and ground assaults, resulting in casualties and displacements. UNIFIL has called for the safety and security of personnel to be respected and condemned the Israeli actions.

Despite Israeli demands for UNIFIL to leave southern Lebanon, citing Hezbollah as using peacekeepers as “human shields”, the peacekeeping force remains stationed. The UN Security Council has urged Israel to protect peacekeepers and their positions amidst international criticism.

As the crisis in Lebanon escalates, emergency workers have been injured, hospitals and medical centers have been damaged, and civilian casualties continue to rise. The international community, including the EU and the GCC, has expressed grave concerns over the situation and called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
