UK Considers Sanctions on Israeli Ministers Over Inflammatory Comments
The UK government is reviewing the possibility of imposing sanctions on two senior Israeli ministers for supporting attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer labeled the ministers’ remarks as “abhorrent” during a session of Prime Minister’s Questions.
Former Prime Minister David Cameron revealed that the previous government had been considering sanctions against the ministers for their extremist rhetoric. Concerns have been raised about the potential for further escalation of tensions in the West Bank region due to their inflammatory comments.
Starmer expressed grave concern about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where the death toll has surpassed 42,000 amid intensifying violence. He called on Israel to minimize civilian casualties and facilitate the delivery of vital humanitarian aid.
Along with France and Algeria, the UK called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss Gaza humanitarian aid. The situation remains volatile, and diplomatic efforts are underway to address the escalating conflict.
