Sukkot 2024: Praying for divine protection in wartime

As we bask in the celebration of Sukkot, we are reminded of divine providence that sustains us with life and protects us from peril. The sukkah, symbolic of God’s shelter during our desert journey, embodies the security and protection we yearn for.

Though our efforts to build fortifications may falter, ultimate protection belongs to God alone. The fragility of human shelter is a stark reality we faced this past year, but we continue to strive for safety and security.

Amidst the struggles, we find beauty and vitality in the lulav and etrog, symbols of the rich landscape of Israel and the vibrant life we have nurtured. Like the Four Species, we stand strong, proud, and unwavering in the face of adversity.

As we reflect on our journey, let us remember the strength and resilience that defines us, the moral clarity we uphold, and the unity that sustains us. Together, we embody the essence of Sukkot, finding solace in the protection of God’s ultimate shelter.
