Sindh govt proposes SHC for probe into Dr Shahnawaz murder – Pakistan

The recent killing of Dr Shahnawaz Kumbhar, a blasphemy suspect, has sparked outrage and calls for justice in Sindh. The Sindh government has recommended a judicial inquiry by the Sindh High Court to investigate the incident in which Dr Shahnawaz was shot dead and his body desecrated.

Accused of sharing blasphemous content on social media, Dr Shahnawaz was killed during a police encounter in Mirpurkhas. After his death, his family faced threats and violence while trying to bury him, culminating in a mob setting his body on fire.

An inquiry revealed that the police had staged the encounter, prompting the Sindh Home Department to call for a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible. The department has urged the SHC to conduct a judicial inquiry under a high court judge to uncover the truth and ensure justice is served.

This tragic incident has once again raised concerns about blasphemy-related violence and the need for proper investigation and justice in such cases.
