Welcome to the SCO Summit in Islamabad!
The two-day summit of government leaders from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is currently underway in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. With premiers and senior officials from 12 countries in attendance, the 23rd meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of SCO member states is being presided over by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Notable participants include Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and leaders from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan. India’s External Affairs Minister and the Iranian Mining and Trade Minister are also part of the summit.
The agenda covers economic and trade cooperation, environmental initiatives, and socio-cultural links among member states. Key decisions for enhancing collaboration and approving the SCO’s budget for the upcoming year are expected.
Founded in 2001, the SCO has expanded to include India, Pakistan, Iran, and Belarus. The summit showcases the organization’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation and security.
