Premier Li urges China, Russia to maintain close cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized the importance of maintaining close collaboration and communication between China and Russia during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Islamabad.

Highlighting the mutual support on core interests and advancing practical cooperation, Li praised the strategic partnership and growing exchanges between the two nations. He expressed China’s readiness to work together with Russia to implement key agreements, expand cooperation, and contribute to mutual development, global stability, and prosperity.

Li mentioned enhancing cooperation in traditional areas like economy, trade, and energy, along with emerging sectors such as the digital economy. Both countries should uphold the Shanghai Spirit within the SCO, strengthen trust, and focus on mutual benefits for a more dynamic and fruitful cooperation.

Mishustin affirmed Russia’s commitment to aligning the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union, deepening collaboration in various sectors, and maintaining strong ties in international frameworks like the UN, SCO, and BRICS.
