Paraguay Increases Bounty for EPP Guerrilla Leaders
Paraguayan authorities have raised the reward to ₲ 7 billion for credible information on members of the Paraguayan People’s Army (EPP) guerrilla group. The government’s aim is to solve the cases of three individuals kidnapped by the EPP, including former Vice President Óscar Denis. Interior Minister Enrique Riera emphasized the importance of accurate and responsible information to locate and bring the suspects to justice.
In addition to Denis, Police Officer Edelio Morínigo and cattle rancher Félix Urbieta are also missing. Riera announced the distribution of flyers with details of 14 EPP suspects and encouraged the public to use the anti-kidnapping hotline for tips. The government is committed to ending this violence and bringing peace to Paraguay.
The families of the victims, including Denis’ daughter, Myriam Beatriz, met with President Sebastián Peña to discuss the ongoing efforts to combat the EPP. The authorities also revealed the EPP’s strategy of recruiting adolescents from Argentina for military training.
