North Korea confirms complete block of road, rail links with South Korea.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has officially announced the complete blockade of roads and railways connecting South Korea in both eastern and western parts of the southern border, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The measure was taken under the order of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party of Korea to separate its territory from South Korea’s.

The DPRK’s Ministry of National Defense stated that on October 15th, sections of roads and railways in Kamho-ri, Kosong County, and Tongnae-ri, Panmun District, were completely blocked through blasting. This action is part of a phased approach to fully separate the DPRK’s territory, where its sovereignty is exercised, from South Korea.

This move signifies a dramatic escalation in tensions between the two Koreas, further exacerbating the already strained relationship. The blockade marks a significant step towards complete isolation of the DPRK from its neighbor to the south.
