Tragedy struck in northern Nigeria as a fuel tanker crashed and exploded in Jigawa state, leaving at least 94 people dead and 50 others injured. The incident, which occurred in Majia town, saw local residents rushing to collect fuel from the tanker after the driver lost control.

Jigawa State Police Command spokesperson, Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the casualties and revealed that the wounded were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. A mass burial for the deceased is scheduled to take place later in the day. The town, located 530 kilometers north of Abuja, is reeling from the devastating aftermath of the crash.
