Netherlands to assist rule of law in South Sudan

The Kingdom of the Netherlands Pledges Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in South Sudan

The new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to South Sudan, Paul Tholen, recently met with Justice Minister Ruben Madol Arol to discuss the challenges faced by South Sudan in the area of transitional justice. Ambassador Tholen expressed his government’s commitment to supporting the strengthening of the rule of law in the country.

During the meeting, Ambassador Tholen acknowledged the difficulties South Sudan faces and emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing these challenges. Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Joseph Malek Arop, also highlighted discussions on the implementation of the peace agreement.

The officials discussed issues such as justice, accountability, reconciliation, human rights, and the extension of the transitional government period. Ambassador Tholen described the meeting as fruitful and expressed his willingness to continue discussions on how to collaborate in the future to enhance the rule of law in South Sudan.
