Paris announced a conference on Lebanon will be held on October 24, with tensions rising between Netanyahu and Macron. In a phone call, Netanyahu expressed his opposition to a unilateral ceasefire in Lebanon, citing concerns about Hezbollah regrouping. Macron, in turn, referred to Israel’s creation by a UN decision, sparking further friction.
Netanyahu criticized Macron for hosting a conference on Lebanon, accusing participating countries of denying Israel’s right to exist. France also rejected Netanyahu’s request for UNIFIL to leave south Lebanon, further straining relations. The war on Gaza and Lebanon has intensified tensions, with Macron calling for an arms embargo on Israel, a move Netanyahu condemned.
Since the start of the conflict, Hezbollah has engaged in the war against the Israeli occupation, leading to cyber-terror attacks and assassinations. Israel’s aggressive airstrikes have resulted in significant casualties in Lebanon, fueling the escalating crisis.
