Lagos state announces N85,000 minimum wage, says Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a new minimum wage of N85,000 for workers in the state during a live interview on Channels TV. He expressed his satisfaction in sharing the news, emphasizing that the decision was based on the state’s financial capacity rather than competition with other states.

Sanwo-Olu also hinted at a possible increase to N100,000 in 2025, highlighting his commitment to providing a living wage for the people of Lagos. He assured that his administration would manage expenditures effectively to ensure that workers receive salaries that meet their needs.

This announcement follows ongoing discussions between state governments and organised labour regarding the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage approved by the Federal Government. Sanwo-Olu’s proactive approach to addressing the needs of workers in Lagos demonstrates his administration’s commitment to serving the interests of the people.
