Canadian PM Trudeau Admits Unsubstantiated Claims Against India in Nijjar Case
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admitted to not providing concrete proof to India regarding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. He testified before the Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference in Ottawa, stating that the information shared was primarily intelligence, not hard evidence.
Trudeau alleged that India was linked to Nijjar’s murder but emphasized that he had credible evidence. The strained relations between India and Canada escalated as Trudeau’s accusations were rejected by New Delhi as “absurd.” India even expelled six Canadian diplomats in retaliation.
Despite Trudeau’s claims, India vehemently denied any involvement and dismissed the allegations of sharing evidence in the Nijjar case with Ottawa. The incident underscores the importance of evidence-backed accusations in international relations to prevent unwarranted tensions.
