Israeli booths banned from French defense expo

Israeli delegations participating in the upcoming Euronaval defence show in France will not be allowed to showcase any hardware, as per a decision made by the French government, as announced by the event organizers on Wednesday. This move comes amidst escalating tensions between Israel and France, triggered by President Emmanuel Macron’s criticism of civilian casualties in Israeli military operations against Hezbollah and Hamas.

President Macron emphasized that halting the export of weapons used in these conflicts is crucial to resolving the situation. Despite the restrictions, Israeli companies and citizens are still welcome to attend the event, set to commence on November 4 in Paris.

Euronaval, a prestigious biennial naval defence exhibition, revealed that seven Israeli companies are impacted by this decision. Earlier in May, Israeli defense manufacturers faced a similar ban at the Eurosatory exhibition, only to be eventually allowed by the French courts.

While Israeli booths and equipment won’t be featured at the show, their presence and participation remain significant, indicating a continued dialogue and engagement in the global defense community.
