Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz emphasized the significance of U.N. peacekeepers’ activities in southern Lebanon, near the border, and highlighted their potential role post a war with Hezbollah.
Israel’s commitment to not harm UNIFIL was reiterated by Katz who stated that the organization plays a crucial part in the post-war scenario. Sixteen EU defense ministers also expressed solidarity in exerting political and diplomatic pressure on Israel to prevent further incidents against U.N. peacekeepers in Lebanon, as reported by Italy.
Italy and France jointly organized a video conference with EU countries participating in UNIFIL, condemning attacks on the mission attributed to Israel. The ministers collectively denounced these incidents and affirmed their support for the peacekeepers in Lebanon.
