Renowned Yoruba nation advocate, Sunday Igboho, has issued a stern warning to the Federal Government concerning their alleged intimidation of the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery. Igboho recently submitted a detailed 25-page petition to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office in London, advocating for the recognition of a sovereign Yoruba nation.
In a personal statement released by Igboho, he condemned the reported summoning of Montgomery by the Nigerian government as unnecessary and an attempt to pressure the diplomat. He reaffirmed that such actions will not derail the ongoing efforts for a Yoruba nation.
Igboho argued that the Yoruba people have a legitimate right to demand secession a century after the amalgamation, labeling the union as a “marriage of inconvenience.” He emphasized that the submission of the petition to the UK government aims to have them as witnesses before the United Nations on the issue.
Despite the intimidation tactics, Igboho remains resolute in pursuing peaceful and non-violent methods to achieve a Yoruba nation, urging his supporters to stay steadfast in their quest for emancipation. He vowed to continue seeking international support for the cause.
