During the interview, Harris defended her work, refuting allegations that she targeted Black men for minor drug offenses. She emphasized her commitment to decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level and highlighted the racial disparities in arrests for possession of the drug.
Harris also took aim at her opponent, Donald Trump, condemning his support for “stop and frisk” policies and warning of the potential harm to the Black community. She emphasized the importance of this election, calling attention to the risks posed by Trump’s proposed law enforcement measures.
Despite her efforts to engage with the Black community and release an “Opportunity Agenda for Black Men,” Harris faces pressure to maintain support among Black voters, particularly Black men. Polls show a drop in Black voter support compared to the 2020 election, raising concerns about Harris’s ability to secure a majority of the Black vote in the upcoming election.
